Major Research Projects

Annual funding from the military to UT Health San Antonio averages over $15 million per year. Notable projects include the following:

  • Leading post-traumatic stress disorder research through the federally funded STRONG STAR Consortium and the Consortium to Alleviate PTSD, Alan Peterson, Ph.D., Professor of Psychiatry and Chief of the Division of Behavioral Medicine
  • A study of the effect of pre-hospital time, diagnostics, and therapeutics on trauma patient outcomes, Brian Eastridge, M.D., Professor of Trauma Surgery, leading the Remote Trauma Outcomes Research Network (RemTORN)
  • Investigating a randomized controlled study on a novel analgesic for burn dressing changes at the Institute for Surgical Research and School of Medicine, VA and DoD, Kenneth Hargreaves, D.D.S., Ph.D., Professor and Chair of the Department of Endodontics, Professor of Pharmacology and Physiology
